seek-fun.com milestone!
When I launched this website way back in 2003, it sucked even more than it does now. But one day I decided to start saving my favorite quotes in a database and using them on the website once in a while. Then I got the idea to have the website randomly select a quote from the database and display it on the header of the home page (see above). That was cool. Eventually there were more than 100 quotes in the database and I decided to make a page that would display them all—the quotes page was born. Spiffy. Then I decided to make the quotes page searchable so that people could search for quotes by certain authors or on certain topics (e.g. "sure thing"). Neato.
On June 18th, 2007, the quotes database swelled to over 200 quotes when I stumbled across two new ones that I liked and threw them in the database. I thought this was pretty significant, so I figured it would be appropriate to jazz things up a bit in celebration. So, if you visit the quotes page now, you'll see that all the authors have turned into hyperlinks. Click on one of these hyperlinks and you'll be transferred over to the Wikipedia page for that person—if one exists. Rad. You can now learn a little bit about the eclectic bunch of people from whom I've sought wisdom. And it's Wikipedia, so you know it's true.
Muddy Buddy update!
topher has secured a most capable partner for the Muddy Buddy race in Chicago on August 5th!
Melissa, Wisconsin Athletic Club spin instructor extraordinaire, self-proclaimed mountain-bike diva (with the bruises to prove it), taco connoisseur, and all-around good gal, has agreed to partner up with me for the event.
Training will begin in earnest next week Thursday in Kettle Moraine if anyone's interested. Bring tacos.
New thought...
I got to thinking about corporate finance the other day and now there's a new thought in the completely updated thoughts page. It's called Wall Street, and it's shorter than Coil Shuffling. I promise.
Revisiting a thought...
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." ~ Mark Twain
I read this and it reminded me of an older thought: Mistakes and Opportunities
