Question:
Where can I find the original GI Joe Cartoon Movie? I have searched everywhere

Goofball Answer:

Curious Party,

First allow me to dispense with the obvious—your hyperbole. Have you really "searched everywhere"? I believe you haven't, because my sock drawer has not recently been disturbed, and that's where I keep my copy.

But the "mile-high ice cream cone" in your desperate commentary tells me you're a G.I. Joe fan in need. And I love me some good hyperbole. So let me help you out.

Since you are searching for the "original GI Joe Cartoon Movie", and not the DVD copy in my sock drawer, I did some digging and believe I can point you in the right direction. G.I. Joe: The Movie was produced and distributed by Marvel Productions in 1986. After entering bankruptcy, Marvel Productions was sold in 1997 to Saban Entertainment, and Marvel's entire catalog of movies was part of the sale. Therefore, you can most likely find the original reels of celluloid containing G.I. Joe: The Movie in the basement of Saban Entertainment. Saban Entertainment is part of the Saban Capital Group, based in Los Angeles.

In the event you're not really searching for the "original" G.I. Joe: The Movie and are instead searching for your own copy of the movie, allow me to offer this advice:

If you're looking for a copy in VHS format to keep it 80s style for real, I suggest you start hitting rummage sales as soon as the weather warms up a bit. I will also ask my Mom to keep her eyes open while she treasure hunts at Goodwill. So check back now and then; I'll post something on the home page.

If you're looking for a DVD copy with rad bonus features, I suggest you check Amazon.com, Mr. Searched Everywhere (no babe is searching for this movie). Two clicks and I found G.I. Joe: The Movie, Special Collectors Edition for $34.00 (US).
